The city of Round Rock has championed it’s name as the “Sports Capital of Texas” by adding more sports facilities each year. The Round Rock Sports Center is the indoor sports complex, existing for over 10 years, but with an outdated and unresponsive website. After assessing key problems and main growth goals for the new site with the client, we switched content management systems from Drupal over to Wordpress, built wireframes that would sustain more complex content, and designed within the Sports Center identity to make the site user-friendly and easy to navigate to the right sports programs.
With the addition of the new multipurpose complex in Round Rock in 2017, we built a sibling site to feature the outdoor sports now offered, like Lacrosse, Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee and Flag Football. The branding of the Multipurpose Complex was set to complement the Sports Center, while still boasting its own identity.
Working with the Sports Center as the original design problem allowed us to open up and address bigger accessibility issues the city had with showcasing all of its features, instead of simply tending to and fixing the outdated website.
